Microsoft said this morning that Windows 10 has reached 350 million devices, up from 300 million in early May. The company also confirmed that the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, a major refresh of the desktop and tablet OS, will be released on Aug. 2.
The continued growth in the user base comes amid a major push by the company to get Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users to take advantage of a free Windows 10 upgrade offer that expires a month from now. The company said Tuesday that it would change the way its upgrade prompts work following complaints about its aggressive tactics.
The Windows 10 Anniversary update includes new security features, Windows Ink, an expanded presence and capabilities for the Cortana virtual assistant, improvements in the Microsoft Edge browser, and new features for Xbox on Windows.
